Here are some Rus Druzhina command figures that I've just finished painting. Figures are by Gripping Beast and the banner and shield transfers by LBM/Victrix. I have more Gripping Beast, Victrix, V&V and Fireforge figures to paint for my Rus army.

Here are some Libyan javelinmen for my early and later Carthaginian armies. The ones on movement trays, in the first photo above, are mainly Victrix which I painted years ago. The second lot I've just finished painting and are Gripping Beast and 1st Corps Miniatures figures. We've got a Truceless War, Command and Colors Ancients, Hippacritae 240 BC game lined up for Sunday so they will all see action then.
Here's another Carthaginian elephant and some cavalry that I've finally finished painting. The ellie and mahout are by 1st Corps, while the javelin armed crew are by Gripping Beast. The cavalry are also by 1st Corps. Shields on the ellie and cavalry are a mix of LBM/Victrix transfers, Wargames Foundry and Veni Vidi Vici water slide transfers and hand painted.
Above are some Irish heroes and a single Norse hero. We have a Norse vs Irish and a Norse vs Anglo-Danes Midgard game lined up in the next week so they will see action then. Figures are by Crusader and Gripping Beast. Below are more Irish slingers and some Anglo-Saxon slingers. Figures are by Footsore Miniatures, Crusader and Gripping Beast.
Here are some Late Roman infantry from the archives that I painted about nine years ago. The figures on round bases above are mainly Crusader Miniatures with Later Roman/Arthurian LBM shield transfers. The infantry below are mainly Wargames Foundry based on 40mm square bases and are the Lanciarii Gallicani Honoriani, legiones comitatenses in the Magister Peditum's infantry roster, assigned to the Magister Equitum's Gallic command in the Notitia Dignitatum. The archers in skirmish formation below them are by Gripping Beast and Black Tree Designs.

Here are some Dark Age or Early Medieval Irish and Norse Gael/Hiberno Norse warriors. Figures are by Gripping Beast and Crusader Miniatures with LBM transfers. I have more Irish I'm working on at the moment, Footsore Miniatures, Gripping Beast plastics and Wargames Atlantic plastics. I'll post photos of these, including some comparison shots, once I've finished painting them. The back drop photo was taken in the Orkney Islands in 2011.
Here are some Dark Ages or Early Medieval Irish cavalry and slingers. I painted the cavalry some time ago but have just finished the slingers. Figures are by Crusader Miniatures and Gripping Beast with some LBM shield transfers. I'm working on some Irish infantry at the moment, I have a reasonable size painted Viking army but need to finish painting their opponents. Byzantines, Irish, Anglo-Saxons, Welsh, Scots/Picts and Rus are all waiting to be finished!
I want to put in a plug for Frank Sultana's Blood on the Sands Kickstarter, which has just started and is almost full funded. These are excellent Gladiator rules for one on one combat. For $145 AUD you get the core box set which includes rules, dice, tokens and plastic gladiators. Well worth supporting if you're interested in gladiator rules, they've been extensively play tested and Frank has been researching and working on them for over ten years. Highly recommended!
Here are some Anglo-Saxon Thegns that I've just finished painting. The figures are from the Gripping Beast plastic set with LBM shield transfers. I already have some Anglo-Danish huscarls with kite shield and some Anglo-Saxon Ceorls, so a few more painted units and I should have enough figures to play a game with them against my Vikings.
Here is a Gripping Beast Saladin figure and some more Perry Seljuk and Turcoman horse archers that I've finally finished painting. I'm currently reading Jonathan Phillips' book The Life and Legend of the Sultan Saladin which is very interesting.
Here are some Anglo-Saxon Ceorls that I've just finished painting. These are all old Gripping Beast metal figures. I don't think they're still available but I really like the shield wall poses they are in. Their shields are a mix of LBM transfers and hand painted. As ceorls they're more likely to be part of the Great Fyrd rather than the Select Fyrd who were usually armoured thegns.
Here are some Arab heavy cavalry from the Gripping Beast plastic set that I've just finished painting for my Islamic armies. I have a box of the plastic GB light cavalry to paint as well but have more Perry horse archers and infantry to finish before them. I find an initial aim of a 24 point Lion Rampant force works well as motivation for completing units for a game and is very achievable as you usually only need five or so units a side. I will use these as Seljuks and Syrians against my Crusaders and Byzantines.

Here are some more 35mm Gripping Beast gladiators, from their Jugula Familia Set Three, that I've just finished painting. There are four types a Lacquearius, Crupellarius, Thraex (Thracian) and Secutor. I have the two other 35mm sets as well and will use these figures and my 28mm gladiators for Frank Sultana's excellent gladiator rules Blood on the Sands.
