Indian Elephant and Cavalry

Here's an Indian elephant and some cavalry that I've just finished painting. The ellie and crew are by V&V Miniatures, a very detailed resin kit, and the cavalry are by Newline Designs. We have a Mauryan versus Nandan Indian ADLG game organised for later this week and these figures are reinforcements for that game.

Here are four more elephants for King Porus's army that I will be using for my Command and Colors Ancients, Battle of Hydaspes game at Little Wars in Canberra on 4 November 2018. I know the Tin Soldier elephant's ears are too large for an Indian elephant but it fits size wise with the hefty beast from 1st Corps and I quite like the pose anyway. I'm in the home straight now and have a final Indian four horse chariot unit - two chariots to finish, then the Indians are all done for the game. I've included photos of three Indian elephants that I painted earlier on below.

Indian Elephants

This is my first post on my new ancient wargaming blog - Bucellarii. I used to have a blog, Satrap Miniatures, but deleted it with my Photobucket account at the end of last year. I expect this will be fairly similar in content and I will repost some of the more popular posts from it.  I'm still sorting things out and seem to have forgotten everything about the layout and formatting of blogger!

These figures are Old Glory elephants and crew that I've just finished painting for my Indian army. I'm working on some Indian chariots at the moment but in my usual magpie fashion keep get distracted by other figures and armies...
