Celt Chariots

Here are three Celt chariots that I've just finished painting. One is Warlord Games and the other two are Wargames Factory. I have a Command and Colors Ancients (CCA) game planned with Trebonius'  foraging party against Cassivellaunus' Britons during Caesar's invasion of Britain in 54 BC:

Some of these chariots and the ancient German cavalry I painted recently will see action in that game.

Galatian Commanders and Javelinmen

Here are some Galatian commanders and javelinmen. I made four 60mm square sabot bases for my Galatian commanders, the figures are by Victrix, Foundry and Companion with LBM shield transfers. I've just finished painting the javelinmen, these are Wargames Factory, Warlord, Renegade, Vendel and 1st Corps figures with mainly LBM and VVV transfers, and some hand painted shields. The back drop photo is of Hatussa (modern Bogazkoy), the ancient Hittite capital in Central Anatolia, the Galatians actually settled here, it was the seat of the Trokmer clan.

A couple of weeks ago we did this really nice day walk in Tidbinbilla, the loop of Mt Tidbinbilla, Tidbinbilla Peak and John's Peak. Below are quite a few photos of our walk!

The track up is steep in places

Greek Hoplites

Here are some plastic Greek hoplites by Wargames Factory that I've just finished painting. The shield transfers are a mix of LBM and the old Immortal Miniatures water slide transfers. While they're not as nice as the Victrix hoplites, they're good value and still paint up quite well. The biggest draw back with them is the limited helmeted head options. They've been sitting half finished in a storage container for years but I have some Greek hoplite games planned and thought it would be good to add them to the mix and finish them off.

Early Achaemenid Persian Sparabara and Archers

1st Corps Miniatures

Wargames Factory

Here are some new photos of old figures, various units of Early Achaemenid Persian Sparabara and archers. I'm really looking forward to the release of the Wargames Atlantic and Victrix Persians and already have some of the brilliant Xyston 15mm Early Persian range to paint. So many choices! The Early Persians don't usually do that well under most rule sets, but I found it interesting that both first and second place in the European Mortem et Gloriam championship were Early Persian armies.
