Carthaginian Elephants

Here are two more Carthaginian elephants and crew that I've just finished painting. Figures, howdah, blanket and shield transfers are by Victrix/LBM. I gave the crew shields and put the javelin holder inside the howdah so the howdah transfers could be clearly seen, it seemed a pity to obscure them!

One morning a few days ago there were about a dozen King Parrots drinking out of the gutter on the shed out the back. They're very common around here in the winter time and of the course the White Cockatoos, Galahs and Corellas have started their annual trashing of the front lawn, digging up grass roots for food.

Numidian Infantry

Here are some Numidian infantry that I've just finished painting. The larger unit are trained Numidian infantry by Victrix Miniatures with Victrix shield transfers. The smaller unit are Numidian javelin men by Renegade Miniatures with cattle and elephant hide shields that are hand painted. Most of my remaining unpainted Numidian infantry are Renegade and Crusader Miniatures. I have plenty of cavalry but still have quite a bit of infantry and two Crusader Numidian elephants to finish painting for the army. I should have enough infantry figures to try out a Jugurthine War, Numidians versus Late Republican Romans game.

Libyan Javelimen

Here are some Libyan javelinmen for my early and later Carthaginian armies. The ones on movement trays, in the first photo above, are mainly Victrix which I painted years ago. The second lot I've just finished painting and are Gripping Beast and 1st Corps Miniatures figures. We've got a Truceless War, Command and Colors Ancients, Hippacritae 240 BC game lined up for Sunday so they will all see action then.

Early Imperial Roman Scorpions Two

Here's an Early Imperial Roman scorpion or bolt shooter and crew that I've just finished painting. These are from the new plastic Victrix set Early Imperial Roman Bolt-Shooter. You get four bolt shooters and sixteen crew as well barrels, bolts and stakes. As you'd expect a great kit with lots of options with crew and ready to shoot and just fired bolt shooters. There is a comparison shot at the bottom with Warlord's plastic and metal Early Imperial Roman scorpions and crew.

Parthian Horse Archers

Here are some Parthian horse archers I've just finished painting. These are all Victrix Miniatures from their plastic horse archer set. I have another lot to do as Scythian horse archers for my Scythian army.

Republican Roman Principes and Triarii

Here are some Republican Roman Principes and Triarii from the archives. I painted these eight figure units about nine years ago. They're all Victrix figures with Victrix shield transfers.

Spartan and Theban Hoplites

Warlord Spartan hoplites

Here are some Spartan hoplites, command stands, cavalry and Theban hoplites that I painted some time ago. I had photos of these on my old blog Satrap Miniatures but haven't been able to track them down, so I've taken new photos. I still have quite a few Victrix and Foundry figures to paint for both Spartan and Theban armies.

Greek Peltasts, Psiloi and Slingers

Here are a few photos from the archives of Greek peltasts, psiloi and slingers. The peltasts and psiloi are mainly Foundry figures with a few Gorgon Studios' Spartan light infantry. The slingers are all Victrix figures. I've been trying to track down some old photos of my Victrix Spartan and Theban hoplites with out much luck, so may just take new photos of these figures.

Below are a few photos of a fun trip we did this week around Pockets and Oldfields Huts up in the Kosciuszko National Park.
