I am really enjoying your relief photos. Great stuff! Are all or most of these works depicted in the Brereton book?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan a trip to the British Museum is a must do if you're visiting London. Some of the earlier stuff isn't but then there are reliefs in it, that I don't have any photos of. I have a couple of books on Assyrian Palace sculpture but the Brereton book is the most
Deletecomprehensive,
Really great again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal.
DeleteThanks for sharing, very impressive and interesting pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
DeleteAmazing images - preserved so wonderfully; the Lachish scenes in particular with the details of armor and tactics.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, they are amazing and the changes to armour and equipment are interesting too.
DeleteThe Assyrian reliefs are some of my favourite parts of the British museum, the only real problem with the museum is there is so much in it! Its a good thing it's free to visit!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, yes it was one of my favourite parts too. It's great that it's free, you do need multiple visits to really appreciate it. I'd love to see the latest Ashurbanipal exhibition.
DeleteLovely to view these photos together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Colin, no worries. The book of the Ashurbanipal exhibition is really excellent and definitely worth getting.
DeleteOk will add it to my New Year list.
