Command and Colors Tricorne - Jacobite Rising - Killiecrankie 27 July 1689

Initial deployment from the Jacobite side

Opposite end from the British side

Highlanders on the right flank

British artillery fire to no effect

Highlanders get stuck in on the left flank

Last Wednesday evening I went over to Rick's place and Gary and I played a Command Colors Tricorne, Jacobite Rising game, the Battle of Killiecrankie. Rick was the umpire and we used his 28mm WoFun British and Jacobite figures. Command and Colors Tricorne is published by Compass Games. I have a copy of the original American Revolution game, courtesy of Rick, and have played it before. Jacobite Rising covers thirteen scenarios from Killiecrankie through to Culloden in 1746. Killiecrankie is a really tough scenario for the British and it felt very much like it was only a matter of time before they collapsed. Predictably the Jacobites won 6-1 victory banners with their entire centre in tact and unused.

It's a tough scenario for the British!

Highlanders on their right flank score three hits

British left flank collapses

It's only a matter of time for the British

Jacobites win 6-1 with their entire centre unused

  1. Sounds like a great game, unless you're English!

  2. Hard game for the Government forces to win, but a cracking looking game, really like the idea of Wofun and must pull the trigger and buy some.

  4. Where did you get the mat and terrain. I picked up the AWI WoFun minis and want to make a board for C&C Tricorne that will fit them.

    1. I’ll check with my mate Rick it was all of his stuff for that Tricorne game. I think the hex hills are by Kallistra.

    2. Rick said the mat is by rollinmats.com who are in Spain. It was a custom mat they don’t sell it as a regular option on their catalogue so you have to ask. The hills are Kallistra with 3/4 colour mix.
