Gasgan chariots, light infantry and slingers |
Last Tuesday afternoon I played a solo Chariots Rampant game with my 15mm Hittites taking on my recently painted Gasgans/Kaskans. The Gasgans were the attackers and had a slight points advantage but the Hittites had more chariots. The two sides advanced and after a couple of turns, were in shooting range. The Hittite chariots charged the Gasgan guardsmen who were warrior infantry, armed with bow and two handed axes. The guardsmen retreated but then charged the Hittite chariots in their turn. The guardsmen failed a courage test and routed. The Gasgan light infantry then charged the half strength chariots and wiped them out. It was getting pretty messy in the game, the shooting activations were definitely less risky than combat. When the last Gasgan light infantry unit failed its courage test and routed, it was victory for the Hittites. |

Great to see the new troops in battle, Mike!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, it was good to give them a run.
DeleteGreat battle report again sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal.
DeleteAlways good to see a chariot battle, I suppose the Gasgans had the most recently painted figures, so defeat was inevitable!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, that’s been my experience with newly painted armies and units too, they always lose!
DeleteYour two biblical armies look awesome! great close up photos of your units too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, it helps to get me motivated to paint the rest of the army.
DeleteI know how you feel "motivated to paint the rest of the army" after painting one of my DBA armies I need to complete it by adding two more for the big 3 DBA, plus I use the armies to play using points system DBM and CommandColors Ancients and other rule sets.
DeleteIt’s good to use armies for both smaller and larger scale games, I will use these 15mm for ADLG and CCA as well when I’ve painted more figures.
DeleteA fine looking game Cyrus!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christopher.
DeleteCongrats to the Hittites for the victory...and to you for the report!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
DeleteA great looking game and nice that the new troops got a run out too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie, it was good to give them a run.
