Italian Allies

Here are some Italian allies from the 2015 Satrap Miniatures archives. These figures are all from the Victrix plastic box set Rome's Italian Allied Legions with Victrix shield transfers.

    1. Thanks Jonathan, they're great figures Victrix. You don't like plastics, I've never seen any on your blog?

    2. I began miniatures Wargaming with Airfix plastics over forty years ago. Once I discovered metals, I have not returned to plastics. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t ever consider them again. Yours really look great but I enjoy the heft of metals.

    3. Same here with Airfix Ancient Britons and Romans. Fair enough, soft plastics and resin figures are quite different to hard plastics. It's interesting but a lot of gamers don't seem to like plastics at all...

    4. I ought to give modern, hard plastics a try! I could use a Punic War cavalry.

    5. The Victrix Spanish, Gallic and Numidian sets are brilliant and you can make Carthaginian cavalry from the Republican Roman Cavalry set with heads from Warriors of Carthage.

  2. Superb additions to your Ancients collection. I agree about the excellent Victrix figures.

  4. I love these posts, I am looking at colors used, and more importantly shield transfer choices and how you placed them. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Kevin, I used lots of white in this unit for the shields and tunics because you have to use a white undercoat for the transfers anyway and it saves time painting other colours.
