Sassanid Command - Shapur I and Valerian

Here's a Sassanid Command stand of Shapur I and Valerian that I've just finished painting. These are great figures by Aventine Miniatures, who have some fantastic ranges, including easily the best ancient elephants in 28mm.

  1. A very, very cool painting on an equally cool vignette, Mike! I've had my eye on this set for many years - but back out each time I wanted to order it as I don't have any other figures from this period. Inspirational though - and my someday get some.

    1. Thanks Dean, yes it’s a great set, I always admired Phil Hendry’s version on his blog.

  2. Mike! This is a beautiful command vignette. Aventine figures are at the head of the class. I recently picked up a few more Romans to field two more units.

  4. Nice Cyrus, you can't place 28's on a stand like that, for sure!

    2. hahaha, it sucks getting old, sorry man. So used to you posting 15's of late I was like wow, look how many 15's you can get on a stand. This is even more impressive then.

      Cheers
